Position Description – Systems Engineer / Digital Engineer
Powell Consulting Group (PCG) supports the Office of the Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (OSW R&E) in ensuring the Department of War has the research, engineering, and technical capabilities required to define, develop, test, field, operate, and sustain advanced warfighting capabilities across the acquisition life cycle. OSW R&E develops and implements engineering policy, strengthens workforce capability and capacity, and engages with DoW Components, industry, academia, and international partners to advance innovation, digital transformation, and mission effectiveness.
PCG seeks a motivated Systems Engineer / Digital Engineer to support the Digital Engineering, Modeling and Simulation (DEM&S) office within OSW R&E. The successful candidate will provide technical, analytical, and programmatic support to Digital Engineering initiatives across the Department of War.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, or related technical discipline.
- 5–10 years of experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related technical field.
- Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies using tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Systems Architect, MagicDraw, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of UAF, DoDAF, UML, and SysML.
- Experience supporting defense acquisition, systems engineering, research and development, or related mission areas within government, military, industry, or contractor environments.
- Ability to analyze technical information and develop recommendations for government leadership.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting meetings, working groups, technical reviews, and senior-level briefings.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Current Active Top Secret Clearance required.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting Digital Engineering, Systems Engineering, Modeling and Simulation, or Acquisition Transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with Digital Engineering concepts including digital threads, digital twins, ontologies, and semantic interoperability.
- Experience in manufacturing engineering environments and digital manufacturing initiatives.
- Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling, simulation, or analysis.
- Familiarity with SysML v2 and emerging MBSE standards.
- Experience developing dashboards, data visualizations, and executive-level briefing materials.
- Experience coordinating activities across government, industry, and academic stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Department of War acquisition processes, requirements development, and systems engineering policy.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office applications.
